I'm working on opening the canopy and getting the maples thinned. I'm a newby when it comes to sugarbush management. I have quite a few trees that look like the photo. Do I cut and leave the strongest or do I leave them alone since they have the same root system?1461814619

I guess I would treat them as one tree

I have this in many places over my acreage I would tap all of them and have with great success strangely enough all of those trees in that clump are most likely the same age

Cut all but the strongest stem. Sometime where there are 6-8 together I will leave 2 stems.
