After last season of being a slave to the weather, and light, I decided to save up some cash and build myself a sugarshack.

The design is an 8'x12' shed. I am currently renting and wanted it to have enough space to work in but narrow enough to drag up a trailer when we leave.

In an effort to save a little bit of money I decided to frame the building with 2x4s instead of paying for the rough cut lumber I really wanted, turns out I saved about $300 by using 2x4s. I was able to buy "camp grade" tongue and grove pine for the siding. And used 1x8x12 for the floor. I built a platform out of 2x6 pressure treated lumber.

I framed the roof out and incorporate a 6' long by 2' wide cupola. I only have a 2x4 set up but with the way I keep upgrading I figure I'll need the larger cupola.

Here are some pictures.

Added roof rafters, leaving s space for the bottom of the cupola. 8 pitch roof.

Framed out the cupola and added rafters. 3 feet from the bottom frame, makes in about 2 and a half feet above the roofline.

So hind sight being 20/20 the shed is too tall to move. So of course now that I built the sugarshack we have decided to move. Now I have to move it, and with the roof on its too tall. Something about power lines and telephones cables and such. So I'm going to have to take the roof off of it in order to move it down the road.

If I was going to build another sugar shack that needed to be moved I would frame the building 6 feet tall, that way WITH the roof on it could be hauled down the road without tearing down any power lines.

So once I get the thing moved and put back together I'll post pictures of the finishes product.

Some set back along the way, but I worked through them.
