Automatic drawoff

Looking at putting together a auto draw off and was wondering why does everyone use the pid instead of a standard temperature controller? Will the standard Co troller work?
And would a solenoid valve work? Or am I better off with a motorized valve

An auto draw with a solenoid valve would cause surges that would blend the flow more. Even with a motorized valve I find it better to have a flow control valve in the line. I set that one slightly faster than what I would have as a flow without an auto draw. A solenoid valve snaps open and closed thus the surges, would work but far from ideal.

sounds good.. where is everyone getting the valves? any one know where to pick one up in the ottawa area?

I've priced them just about everywhere in or around Ottawa. I ended up buying mine on eBay. $89 I think. Got prices in the hundreds from plumbing supply stores around Ottawa. I've got the link somewhere on the site here. I will try to find it
It's a motorized ball valve. Power on, capacitor close. I know most people like the power on power off ones but I like the idea of it closing when the power is interrupted of goes out. Just my opinion. I haven't used it yet so my opinion might change

would a rtd pt-100 probe be the correct one to use?
