Building new arch for new pans I got. Adding 2 air box/ flues into firebox. 16 ga stainless 2x8 box channel 36 inches long.was thinking of 2 rows of 1/4" holes an inch apart. Can drill holes out bigger at later point if need more air. Do you think this is a good starting point?
Also am I better regulating the airflow with a rheostat on the motor or building dampers into the flue to control airflow?

Have you checked out the paper put out by the Vermont Extension Proctor Maple Research on air in the fire box? Here is a link to it.
