Building Steam hood

I am thinking of building a set of steam hoods for a 4x12. I want to use a aluminum frame and Plexiglas for the sides so I can see into the pans. Has anyone done this before? Any advice? Pointers? Tips? Any help would be great, thanks.

Plexiglass won't hold up unless you can get a special high temp stuff.

Use Lexan, it will stand up better.
