It ran slowly on vacuum all night - 160 gallons on 840 taps. But at least its enough to boil for a while today. Meanwhile, the big rock maple that I tapped in my yard yesterday has been running hard and sweet. Over a gallon and a half already. Have my tapholes started to dry out? I tapped Feb. 15-16 with all CV's. Or is my yard tree running hard only because that's what brand-new tapholes do?

What are other people getting? And when did you put the taps in?

We were running on gravity last night in Peru. Doesn't look like we got much though, I only had time to check one of the tanks this morning and there wasn't a lot in it. But this is the tank that was barely running yesterday. Not sure how the others did. The end is near! We tapped end of Feb./1st week of March

We got a little, which is okay by me because we are pulling our taps tomorrow, and we'll push with water and call it a season. It's time... Please don't tell us about the sap you collect Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

Checked my 3/16 this morning, not a trickle. Lines are full, maybe with some sun??? My buckets are out of the woods and pulling the taps out tomorrow. Time to clean up.

I got 120 gal.or so on 165 taps with 15" of vac, yesterday, my bottom line got about 40 gal. On 76 taps with 14" of vac. I didn't turn the vacuum on at location 3 and only got about 15 on gravity. Going to boil tonight and tomorrow and call it a season. Work is getting busy and I can't boil as often now as I was. I have run out of wood already once this year and only have about a 1/4 of a cord left and that may just finish up my season. We are tetering on the 200 + mark of syrup for the season , so before I start making grade B I'm going to call it. What a great season we had here, almost 8 weeks and 6 1/2 cord of firewood!! Big plans in the works for next year. Best of luck to you guys who are going to ride out the last week!

We got a little in on our L/A runs the past few days. Not likely we will have enough to bother boiling it. We drained the evaporator last week. If we have 150gal maybe. Cleaning up this weekend and calling it good. Although the weather was a bit on the wild side, this has been just about our best season with 48.5 Gallons bottled up. 7 Gallons are cooking only.

Update from my partner.........had about 100 gallons at 11 AM so it has continued to run slowly. Looks like we'll have enough to do another boil. He said the sap tasted and smelled OK, was also pretty clear stuff. We're at 25 gallons, should be our highest year yet by a few gallons.

Still in the game here in Cornville, it ran ok and we had enough to boil for a few hours. The sap is still good even the reds. We will see what tomorrow brings.

not much, 900 taps on 25'' maybe 150 gals in 8 hrs- not worth running pumps

Small backyard setup, but I ended up with 2.75 gallons off 8 taps, so nearly 1.5 quarts per tap. For my first season I am pleased. The sugar content stayed between 2.5 and low 3's. I tapped Feb 19 and have one tap left. This last tap is still producing (gallon today at 2.2%) and I am bottling the sap for mixing in my morning oatmeal rather than water. Best tasting oatmeal ever even before I add syrup! 30 taps next year and a new evaporator!

Yes, Great first year Myhomesteader!! Karen you made an end around play for a score toward the last of your season also!! I had my best season with 9 gallons and 1 quart. Right around 440 gallons of sap. I should surpass that next year as my younger brother wants me to set him up at his house, instead of trucking sap, and he has nothing but maples everywhere. 28 tree's 4 ft + line his driveway.

The crazy season continues. I decided to just check the sap run this morning in the rain. It ran really good thru the night. I collected almost 50 gallons. Looks like another boil, i thought we were done.

Hey Mitchman, got another 120L today and all my sugar maple taps had overflowed. Looks like I'm in the middle of a shootout in the Championship game after all!

Ayuh, Mitchman. The wood frogs are going crazy over here and then they must get frozen with some of these cold nights.
