If I pull the taps on the few budded reds on my lines can I just put the tap inside the tee plug. Will it be able to keep natural vacuum?

I cut the tap off and use an end hook, the Tee pin/plugs will leak a bit.

If you push tap into the cup on CDL with Maxflow spouts they seal off 100%. I had 3 or 4 taps this year that had vac leak because of soft spot on tree, tree was dead or hollow tree. I pulled them out of tree and pushed them tightly into cup and had no issues with vac leaking. The Maxflow spouts are softer so they seal good in tree and in the cups

I used the 3/16" tees that have a post instead of a cup. Either the line or the D&G 5/16 X 3/16 spouts fit over the post because the post has two diameters. The spout actually seemed to fit tighter and expand a little when pressed onto the post. I say try it and be prepared to cut the spout off if you see more bubbles going downstream than coming from upstream. You've got nothing to lose because you don't want to be sucking buddy sap. Also, you can pinch the drop line with vice grips so you don't lose too much vacuum before you pull the spout or cut the tube.

I have the D&G taps with the pin on 3/16 and have no problem with them leaking if I discontinue a tree.
