I have been thinking about adding RO and looked at both commercial units (expensive for hobby/ small operator) and home built units. Because of the work I do i also have access to marine water makers and could possibly get a good deal on a new one or running takeout. Has anyone looked at marine water maker units for 350 - 600 gpd type capacity? I am not familiar enough with RO technology to make a proper assessment based on the published data available for the marine units.

If you send me the data sheet for the RO you're looking at I would be happy to provide a little insight. The desalination membranes are generally much different than the membranes used for sap processing although I believe they will still work.

You may have to lower the pressure on the pump. Desalination units pump at like 600-800psi and use different membranes.

I'll see what i can get my hands on for literature and specs and post them here.
