I am going to run a 6hp gas engine in a Gast 2565 ...do I absolutely need a vacuum regulator?

I have 1 pump , a Surge vane pump on a Surge vacuum tank that could implode over 20" vacuum. I use a regulator on that. Another piston pump runs a releaser and that does not have a controller. When I keep on top of leaks, that runs 26-27".
However, I'm not familiar with the Gast pumps. Do they show a max. vac level in the specs? If yes, use a vac control if not, I wouldn't use one.

I run surge vane pumps also, I use a 1/4" ball valve to bleed off some air to get the vacuum where I like it. I run 22-24" any more than that and they get to hot.
you will probably just need to try it out.

Yes, an inexpensive regulator is the safety valve for an air compressor with the plastic popped reversed and it is now a vacuum regulator for less than 30 dollars US. I am not sure what they cost in Canada.

I bought one at cdl... Was $110 ... Maybe could have used a $5 ball valve....?
