I have been building a parallel flow preheater for my evaporator pan using copper tubing/fittings attached to an aluminum frame which will sit on the pan edges. My question is about cleaning the preheater before I use it. I used lead free solder and flux to assemble the unit. What else besides running very hot water thru it, should I use to clean the inside of the pipes?

Would think you could fill it with vinegar for a while.

I built one with a friend of mine for his 2x8 and we attached 3/4" male threads to each end for the connections. We hooked a garden hose up to it and let water run through it on low for a couple hours. Then reversed it and let it flow the other way. We didn't hook it up to the hood untill we filled a glass of water up and it tasted like water not solder.

I'll try the vinegar and let it sit in there for a while then flush it real well with hot water. I do have a garden hose thread fitting on the input end so i'll let water flow thru it for a while then do a taste test as Bricklayer mentioned.
