Grading ???

What is the rule for grading.
When a grade is in between 2 grades is it to go up or down?
I made 1 gallon today, and it is 1/2 way in between light and med. How should this be graded, light or med.
They need to add a med light grade.:)

I'm far from an expert on the subject, but I'm almost positive you go down.

So you made medium.

The samples represent the darkest allowable for each grade. Just as soon as it darkens past each grade it goes to the next darkest.

Your syrup needs to be lighter than the sample in your test kit to be that grade. Flavor is a factor in grading too.
