Most soap wash at 11 and don't go over 12. Check Filmtech to make sure as I have XLE4040 and it is 11 not to go over 12.

Thanks Brandon most people say to heat the solution. I have no way of doing that so can i use use hot tap water instead of permeate as the wash solution?

I'm learning too, but watch the temps. There is a max temp spec and it's not much over 100°f from what I've seen. Warm your water on the arch?

I am assuming you have a pump that is pushing the wash solution through the system. On my CDL, that pump and friction add heat to the solution, slowly raising the temp.
My system shuts off at 43 Deg C, and I usually run PH from 10-11.
I then drain the wash solution, and rinse, in my case with 300+ gallons of RO permeate water.
I would not use tap water, as it has minerals, desolved solids. I would think only use permeate water on the membrane.

If your tap water is chlorinated then absolutely not. Chlorine is a membrane killer. If you have a high mineral content then as was said earlier, probably not a good idea either. Do you get a lot of mineral staining in your sinks? As far as heating goes, I use bucket heaters I bought at tractor supply in a plastic barrel that I have for a wash tank.

Thanks Sean no i don't get staining or rust in my sinks or toilets but i never thought of bucket heaters, might be an option.

Here is the Dow data sheet. http://msdssearch.dow.com/PublishedLiteratureDOWCOM/dh_089a/0901b8038089a29f.pdf?filepath=liquidseps/pdfs/noreg/609-00349.pdf&fromPage=GetDoc

I went to 13 regularly when using xle membranes. They never passed sugar.

Thanks William mine do pass about .05 sugar not sure if its the membranes or my fittings this is an 1980 vintage Memtech R.O. which has aluminium fittings top and bottom I suspect that the aluminum caps have some deterioration where the bottom fitting secure in and sugar passes through that area of the cap.

Most membranes you are not supposed to go over 113 to 115 degrees F.

I had a Memtek like that. Now I have a seprotech 8" membranes. Same fiberglass vessels with aluminum caps. I took the caps from my 4" to a local shop that rebuilds hydraulic cylinders and they re machined the o-ring grooves. They also made a new cap for my 8". Only $200
