Old Leader thermometer?

Got this with an evaporator, seeing if has some good value and are uncommon?

Not uncommon- at one time every sugarmaker owned one. They are rarely used these days because they have mercury in them, and if they break you can throw your syrup away. The digital stem/probe and dial thermometers have replaced those.

It does have antique value though. Hang it on the wall and explain, "back in the old days...". Nice find anyway.
