Carlin 801 help

I seem to be using about 22 gallons an hour of fuel oil on high flame. First is this about normal? Second does anyone now of a different burner that would be comparable but more fuel efficient. Looking to possibly buy something different for next year, but have no clue what to get? Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
