I've been hoping this cool down would make the trees that are not on tubing start flowing again, but it didn't get down into the twenties last night and it isn't going to hit forty today. No drips. Tonight is supposed to drop into the teens but tomorrow is only supposed to get into the the thirties. It looks like Sunday might be good. In the meantime, the trees on tubing stopped last night when the lines froze, but started again today. They are really saving my season. The sap is still good. Next year I won't tap as many trees near the house. Just the seven or so most productive.

Some of my trees were doing good today on buckets. I tapped some fresh new maples and some dripped pretty good but others not a drop. Its hard to figure out which ones will produce the best but it seems the younger trees are doing better for me. Those big old maples I can't hardly get a drip out of them. I believe most of what I tap are reds though. Sap still appears to be good here.

I actually went and tapped the trees I pulled last week because they were flowing so good this morning.
Using tube and 5 gallon buckets and the 4 of the 6 trees produced 2 1/2 - 3 gallons since 10am.
Looks like another good run for me the next few days.
I will have to look this summer and see which kind of Maples I have  The ones that are 2'-3' width are producing the best for me.
