View Full Version : what's causing this damage
I've been running tubing for 30 years and have seen my share of tubing damage. However I have never run into this until after the season last year and now during the season. This woods is on vacuum and the damage occurred last year when the pump was off and this year while the pump was running. I've seen lots of mice, squirrel, chipmunk, and fisher damage, but nothing like this. By the looks of things I'd say some small rodent. Any body else see this in their woods?13815
Probably sap suckers which is bird in the woodpecker family.
Interesting thought. I'll have to check the damage with a magnifying glass to better see the damage to plastic.

Not likely to be a sapsucker if you saw new damage this winter. Binghamton isn't in their winter range. I'm a little south of you across the PA border. They usually don't show up here for at least another month or more. Besides circling trees with a ton of small holes, they love pecking on the metal barn roof. They sure know how to drive a person crazy!

Is the damage right at the bark in the spout adapter? Probably a rodent of some kind, possibly red squirrel, but if it is a round hole with no chew marks it could be a downy or hairy woodpecker.
