We tapped trees on Saturday and collected on Monday. We took the sap hydrometer with us to see what we had. The Hydrometer stayed at the bottom of the cup, never floated.
Yesterday we had our first cook and used the syrup hydrometer to check how close we were before pulling the pan. The hydrometer floated and the result was the hydrometer popped right up and half of the skinny end was above the cup. Why did that happen?
There is no cracks in either one of these. On the Syrup one we noticed that the two red lines have disappeared, why did that happen.
Thanks,
Cindee
