I collected 175 gallons yesterday morning then went to one of my bushes last night and got 50 more and the taps had started to all slow down. With today's warmth expected and no cold in sight I'm assuming I'll be all done after today. I'll be heading out soon to collect from my 3 locations and see how much I got since 8am yesterday. Been an amazing season for me though, I'm glad I tapped Jan 20th, I got more sap than I really could handle and about a 50:1 ratio. The new evaporator boiled at 20gph for me with my flat pans and I have a lot of great tasting darker syrup for it. Awesome season indeed!!!

It does look like the season could be over for people with buckets and gravity tubing but don't rush to pull your taps. The weather could change and we could be right back into sugaring temps next week. I've seen it happen before and have my fingers crossed for this season.

I certainly wouldn't rush to pull taps. Just because the weathermen say it is going to be warm for the next week or two, it may not happen. In a couple of days it could be a completely different forecast.

I agree. I wouldnt pull your taps just yet. The night time temps for the long term have been steadily dropping. The weathermen have a reputation for not getting 100%. Im sticking it out until buds pop, then you know its over!

pulled a gallon a tree off from yesterday's run.
we hit 32 here last night, with what's left of the ice pack and those temps pretty sure the froze enough for today..time will tell
all the tree's were starting to run this morning so off to a good start :)
some tree's ready to bud but most are finally showing signs of waking up.

I got 3-5gpt in the last 24hours including almost 3 gallons between 6pm and 8am from one tap. That tree put out 6-7 gallons overnight I was impressed. The trees are running hard right now. Friday night forecast is 32 and nice/sunny all weekend. I'm hoping to get through the weekend boiling hard. I don't expect much after that.

Lots of overnight sap here. Still coming in when I emptied the tanks this morning. Roadside trees dripping too. Looks like a freeze Friday night. Still lots of syrup left to make!

Same here. The vacuum pulled in a 1/2 gallon per tap overnight from my reds. It was still coming in good this morning too. The forecast is calling for 29* for a low Friday night. My woods are typically colder. Looks like it could be a good start to the weekend.

Hi Russ. My woods, too are cold and North facing, so I typically run later than everybody else around me. I'm using the clear seasonal CV's exclusively this year so I THINK I'll be o.k. during this slow down. Yesterday we boiled for the forth time of the season, and the color darkened to a nice medium/dark amber. I have no signs of buds swelling yet. Hard to tell, but I think we might be o.k. for some good runs later this month.

First year at this here in Wakefield, NH. The bug to try it out hit later this year than most of you started. Been at it for two weeks now. All gravity fed into jugs then I transfer to 5 gal bucket then transfer again to 20gals. Boiled down a pint and a half shy of 1.5 gals so far from about 65-70 gals of sap (wasted some with some burning in our wood fire evaporator).

Amazing taste and look. We're hooked. Afraid of what my signature will look like in a year or two.

Sap ran hard overnight up here, collected almost 10 gals around 10PM from our 24ish taps, another almost 10 this morning and looks like I'll be getting another almost 10 by 12:30. Took awhile to get going yesterday, ground still frosty underneath.

Really hope to see this extend another week. Imagine we'll have about 30-35 to boil down in today's boiling with a couple more collections. Would love to boil down another small batch on Saturday and some next week.

Have some south facing and some north facing. In fact some of our north facing trees were still slow to get going this morning.

I was surprised....I got 200 gallons this morning and a lot of them were still dripping hard. Im not pulling anything yet, my plan was for this weekend, but we shall see how it goes!! Im just amazed at the amount of sap in 48 hours from my small amount of trees. Hit 375 gallons in 48 hours, I am very psyched for what a great season it has been for me!

Ive collected about 275 off 150 taps in the past 30 hours and its still running hard. Should've had more too, found a couple clogged T's on my 3/16 gravity tubing - first year using 3/16 and learned the hard way to keep an eye on the Ts. Buds still look pretty tight on my lines so if we can get a freeze Sat morning we should get another good run.

Collected this morning. Both my north and south facing lines were coming in strong. Buckets were still dripping too. Here's hoping for another few good runs. Steam will be in the air tonight!

Sap is pouring out of the trees here. Ran quite a bit overnight then slowed down, but around 9:30 when the sun started getting high in the sky, they just opened up.

What are you folks doing with your pans over the next few warm days? Drain and finish it all off then start again if it runs this weekend? or let the pans sitl full and wait the weekend out?

We haven't even finish tapping yet. Probably have 600 or so out, been getting 4-600 gallons per day when it has run. 3.2% yesterday on some of it. We may still have a lot of season left. I held off tapping today until this warm spell finishes, then we may do a couple hundred more. Only been tapped for less than 2 weeks.

Up in my frost pocket on the side of Cabot Mt. my 300 trees are just getting going, haven't even collected yet, still poking in some here and there. I'm done around 1 week in April up here. Hoping for 25 gallons.

I think I'm going to freeze a couple of water bottles for my syrup pan and a gallon for my flue pan then I'm going to put the covers on. Try to keep the sweet cool through the weekend and see what comes. Last week i had a heat lamp now it's ice

Well this will be my last sap update because all of my taps have stopped dripping.

I collected another 90 gallons this morning, so in 3 days my 150 taps have given me 460 gallons. That's 3 times more than I did in an entire season 3 years ago haha

Will boil this down tonight and start my clean up, I am pulling my taps Saturday morning and starting my cleanup.

Patience, patience. I'm just a flatlander, but even down here, it aint over until there's buds. Our forecasts aren't anymore reliable than yours! I have to say, though, that I think this season is over for us. I've been busy with work, being the oddball I am, we're just coming off our busy season, so haven't even pruned my apple trees. If I'm not careful, it'll be too late

I think you may be hasty in pulling, but it's up to you.

Hahaha I've made 28 gallons, it's more than I even know what to do with. Trust me it's time for me, I tapped Jan 20th so been a nice season for me.
