Well just wanted to share what I have been working on the last couple wekends. Have put in many hours and they seem to be paying off as I'm getting much higher boiling rates out of my small 2x5 with the addition of the small blower preheater and hood. The hood isn't finished yet and also thinking I may add another layer to the preheater. Although I just wanted to share what I came up with for others like me to see as well as input on what I did and advice on how to make it better. I am looking good to upgrade to a 2.5x8 or 10 here soon but in the meantime I'm very happy with the homebuilt unit.

Very nice build, what did you use for the preheater drip tray?

I used aluminum angle for the preheater drip tray. I only spaced them away a little. It from the pipes and think if I had a little further apart it maybe more efficient although I'm not sure. I boiled for about 5 hrs last night and got about 20 gals of water out of it. I need to make a drip d tray for my steam pipe as well got to thinking know how I want to do that either build something or maybe a funnel. I definitely have some more work to do but running out of time and had to boil some sap off. I need to finish sealing of the. Oiling pan I believe and add another steam pipe above the first is pan. And think additional guests another layer of preheater would show a gain as well.
