My issue is that the syrup goes through the pre filter fine it's when it goes through the cloth filter it stops flowing I need to use a back of the spoon to help it flow throughI even pre steam my cloth filter

How hot is the syrup when your filtering? Are you enclosing the filter in something to help keep it hot? That will help a lot, but they are slow regardless.
make sure you get both of the filters good and wet before filtering the syrup

We nestle / layer prefilters inside of cloth filters respectively.
Prefilter, cloth, prefilter, cloth, and then a few prefilters together.
Dunk the entire mass in the back of the hot sap tank.
Then as we hang the filters together and start to pour in syrup, we continually take out a filter that starts to clog.
Then all the filters need to be rinsed and reset.
We can get through 5 gallons of syrup. Not sure how much syrup you are trying to filter.
You want all the filters dripping wet, then squeeze excess water out. When I used cone filters I would use a couple of scoops of hot sap from flue pan now using flat filters I just use hot water from the house

This is my setup and process right, wrong or overboard.
I should give credit to others on their ideas but don't remember who they were now.
I use cone filters in a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out that sits on top of a $40 SS coffee maker.
The coffee maker I fill with distilled water and run it though its perk process so it is at the warming stage so I don't create more sugar sand, it keeps the syrup temp around 185-190.
The main filter is a synthetic filter, then I have 5 pre-filters in the synthetic one.
I dip my filters in hot distilled water (I live in the city and don't want all of the chemicals in my syrup) then lay them in a glass pan in the oven at 180deg.
The bucket is wrapped in a towel and I also have one that goes on the top after the syrup is poured in.
Right before the syrup is ready to be filtered I put the filters in the bucket and use a rope to tie it to the top so it doesn't fall through the bottom.
I pour the syrup in while it is still boiling and put the top on and let it drain. I pour about a 1/2 gallon in at a time then checking the flow.
Once I see it slows down I will pull out the first filter and hold on to the top and bottom and let it filter through it's side a little before dumping the syrup out of the first filter.
Here are some picks and some might be surprised whats in the first 3 pre-filters.
I know it's not a perfect setup but it works great for me and want to thank everyone from the site that have helped out with their post.

These are my last pre-filters
Third pre-filter

Fourth pre-filter

Fifth pre-filter

As you can see that the pre-filters did most of the work so the main filter runs much quicker.
I ran 2 gallons of syrup and removed only the first two pre-filters before it all ran through.

Love the towel and belt idea, and I don't even see any burnt sugar on the stove. Doing something right!

Thanks to all your awesome comments I put inside my cloth filter 3 pre filters I first pre filter got the biggest punch of sludge after that everything ran crystal clean through all the pre filters and even the cloth filter in total just shy of 2 gallons of clean and clear syrup thanks u to all 🍁🍁🍁
