Measuring 1.4 or lower. Been boiling all day and the syrup is pretty dark today. Much darker than last weekend.

Sounds like a lot of us may be in the same boat in a few days.
What is the grade? Dark or Very dark?

I'm not bright enough to grade it. Pretty dark though....

I had one batch that was dark but the next batch was light . I guess you never know. I do like the maple flavor in the dark. More flavor I think

Color darkening as the season progress is one factor, but I think color may also be due to sugar caramelization. Amount of time the syrup/sap is boiled, or your technique ( continuous flow, small batch boils)...all a factor.
