I bought a Shurflo 12 pump and I was wondering if someone could show me how to wire it. Is it really as simple as it sounds where you connect the wires to a battery? Anyone have pics to help? I am a visual learner and this would help me a lot. Also any suggestions for a good battery to use?
Thanks!

Black to ground, red to positive...that's it. Simple. Buy an inline fuse holder and put a 15 amp fuse before the pump.
If you have power available, cheapo battery and a battery charger. If no AC power available get a good battery. It will be worth the extra $$.

Get a good marine grade deep-cycle battery. I bought a #8270 from NAPA auto parts, class 27 marine grade, about $100. I have run the pump 35 hrs straight without killing it. This pump has a set of small terminals you can wire to, or get a set of battery clips, which you can just unclip to turn the pump off if you don't have a switch. You can also use a car battery but it won't last as long.

ok, so what is the easiest way to wire the pump so I can just plug it into an outside outlet?
Battery with battery charger is the easiest way.
Black pump wire to battery "-"
Red pump wire to fuseholder with 10 or 15 amp fuse
Other side of fuseholder to battery "-"
Charger red clip to battery +, charger black clip to battery -
If you have the charger plugged in all the time, you don't need an expensive marine grade battery, you could use almost anything, like that battery from a lawn tractor, motorcycle, etc that is sitting idle for the winter.

Could I use a 3 AMP 12 Volt Power Supply like the one in the picture?

jberube.....I've been using a 12v power supply that I repurposed from a cable TV box, so what you show might work. I'm not an electrical engineer though, nor am I trying to pretend to be one.
