going to start tapping in northern ny

Going to start tapping in franklin county, NY tommorrow, 03/09/2007. Snow is rather deep, which makes for tough going. Shooting to put out 1100-1300 taps. All buckets.

I will wait until Sunday and Monday. Maybe the rain on Sat will put the snow down a little.

I'm planning on Saturday & Sunday, although may not get them all in until Monday. Good luck to ALL of us!

I plan to tap Sat-Sun. Will be adding some tubing on a new woods I got to tap. Unfortunately downhill from road but only about 150' to farthest. I might set up a line to use my sap pump made from 1" black poly pipe. Getting some help for a couple of hours Sat.

Not sure about snowshoes. I walked a little in the woods and most places i stayed on top of the approx 2' with little break thru if any sun had been able to get thru. However this hard thick crust will eventually soften and then I wll need to ut on a smaller pair of snowshoes to keep on top. Hope to make it thru Sat without them.

I am going to be tappingin Northern NY on Sunday- Monday. I am hoping for the rain on Sat to get rid of some snow. We are located close to Canada on Rt 11 in Clinton County. A commercial producer who has approx 20,000 taps on family land has been tapping for about 2 weeks. They have been encountering lots of snow in the woods. Let hope foe a good weekend and a run of Sap all next week.
