CDL smart spout or leader CV2 (no check ball)? Or are there any other seasonal spout that you prefer? Just curious. We have used CDL smart spout for a few years and like them just evaluating for next year.

I use all CDL maxflow and they seal really good, 3/16 and 5/16 spouts both are used in my woods.

I have had good luck with both sealing. As we have discussed before for me its always a balance between cost and length of season. I truly believe CVs are the way to go if you have a 7-8+ week season, turn your pump off regularly or have a market for commercial grade syrup. Looks like this year may be a short season again for the opposite reason of last year. If I could add...I am interested in color preference also. I use clear but a big producer around me have changed to white.

I use the Leader CV2's and find that they seal very well. I like being able to see what is coming out of the tree and the lack of micro leaks.

To avoid confusion....both spouts you refer to (I assume) are 5/16" spouts, but one type has 3/16" barbed tubing fittings and the other has 5/16" barbed tubing fittings. The part going into the tree is 5/16" (or since they are CDL spouts, perhaps 19/64", or maybe 1/4").
