I'm new to the filtering I just used my siro filter today and I was wondering if you can use to much de filter aid ? ! it seems like it's in the syrup I only had 5 gallons to filter and I filtered 3 cups of de into it and recirculated for a while to it

your syrup likely needs to be hotter, also double check your frames to make sure they are in right. has to be over 200 degrees to work optimal. hard to filter small amounts without being heated back up.

Doesn't sound like too much aid ,if it was your pressure would go up. Papers on the right side?plates on the right way so bypass holes line up ?
Syrup is Hot 200 deg. ? Run thru the pres back into syrup tank until clear and then into bottle tank. If you have probably after that PM me

He's asking about a Siro Filter not a filter press. I'm not familiar with that type, just that those who have them like them. After recirculating it with the FA, if that works similar to a filter press, you should then pump it thru the siro press and the filter bag should trap the FA on the outside and clean syrup should flow thru.

Peter, you can't use too much filter aid, unless the press is full of it. I have a regular press, not a siro, but there should be no difference in that part. Also, if the syrup is hotter than 190 deg more sugar sand can precipitate out even after filtering. You'll get the dirt, but still see white sediment in glass bottles. Never have syrup over 190 coming out of the filter or you'll still have sediment and wonder why!
