View Full Version : Polishing Stainless Syrup Pans

I have 4 or five mill finished pans that I use in my maple syrup operation that I'd like to polish up. Is there anything I should be concerned about since it needs to be food grade? What is the best way to polish these pans if at all? Any feedback is very appreciated.

Scotch brite pads on a random orbital sander. They also make them to fit 4'' grinders. Commonly used in food equipment fabrication.

Will it give a nice finish? Doesn't have to be a mirror finish but something nice looking.

No ,It will not be a mirror finish. I assumed you meant polishing as in getting the discoloration off of it. There are buffing compounds available and different types of cloth wheels used. Im not sure about food grade compounds. Can probably google it. I know that polishing is usually done with lower rpms like a hand held buffer used in a body shop. I suppose I know just enough to confuse you.

All of my pans are just mill finished right now. I want to get rid of that.
