View Full Version : Tapped in Natick. Is it too late for silvers?
New to tapping this season and started 15 silvers today on buckets. The trees are pouring sap after I tapped them but noticed they already have what appears to be a bud(?) emerging? Does that mean it is too late? Im in Natick BTW...not sure if it matters.

Big difference between a bud emerging and a bud opening. If your sap is clear and clean, you're good to go, boil away. What are you boiling on?
Thanks MaplesEdge. The sap is clear so I guess I am ok. I plan on cooking on a bunch of cinderblocks supporting my grandmothers old steamer pans. I say 'plan' because I have not boiled anything yet and this is my first year at I so I am not sure how much sap I will actually gather. Either way, it's an excuse to walk around the woods, sit around and watch trees grow.

Boiling water amongst the trees
Is much more fun when you don't freeze
