View Full Version : propane
I'm getting alot of black soot on the bottom of the pans from my 3 burner propane stove. Any idea why this is happening? I tried adjusting the air vents but that doesn't seem to help.

Its definately a problem with air mixture. Does it burn blue and clean with the pans off? If not then you might want to check the orfice, things like cobwebs can screw up the mixture.
If it burns clean when the pan is off then you probably need to raise your pan higher above the flame so more oxygen can give it better combustion.

I had this problem last year on a single burner finisher.
This year it did not do it.
Last year I had adjusted flame many times and no help.
This year I added a sheet metal shield 1/2 way around to keep wind from blowing heat away and to keep get the excess heat to go up side of pan to speed process up. My guess is this did not fix my soot problem.
I am guessing I had debris in gas line between propane tank and burner outlet which screwed up the mixture. This year I am completely soot free.
Now to continue to find low cost ways to speed up the process from collection to bottling.
