Well, it went better than the first boil last year. First my pan leaked, then I had it up to a boil when I threw some unsplit cherry on the fire and lost my boil. Then I tried to take the pan off of the fire and scorched the pan, ended up kicking the pan across the driveway. Walked in the house and my wife wanted to know how much syrup I got ! Zero. I boiled again the next weekend and did get close to 2 gallon but it was a struggle. Today, I started with 75 gallons of sap and when I came in the house tonight and she asked " How much syrup did you get ?" Zero, but I have my pan sweetened and covered and ready for the next boil. Whoever had the idea to have a bucket of sap sitting there for an emergency, I just want to say Thank You. It took every bit of that until I had the fire calmed down. Thanks for all the other advice on this forum. Ron
