...it covered the tops of my sap jugs. I spent 7 hours clearing my driveway with my little tractor and my sap total for the year is still under 1.5 gallons. Frustrating.

Hang in there this weekend sounds to be better. I have 39 taps out with only 15 gallons collected. It's been real slow here also.

Supposed to have two days in the forties, so maybe it will happen. Starting to think I overestimated the impact of a warm el nino winter on the thawing of the trees.

Rub it in, why don't ya? I've been waiting for a storm or three so I can get some skiing in before maple season. Well, the season is upon us and the only "storm" we've gotten of the frozen variety has amounted to 2". Had a hell of a thunderstorm with over an inch of rain the other day. It's a non-winter for the northeast.

Not much frost in the ground here, dug up quite a bit of ground pushing snow (not on purpose, mind you).
Given that, tomorrow holds promise of a decent run, Sunday should see the dam bust loose.
A foot of fresh snow rapidly melting off this weekend is going to make things a muddy mess.
This morning the weatherman teased another significant snowfall slated for mid next week.

We got somewhere around 10-11" of snowfall with this recent storm. Like Tweegs, I torn things up a bit, especially in the woods, clearing snow with the tractor. This weekend is looking very promising and could run through Tuesday, depending upon how cold it gets Monday night.

Went out and uncovered all the jugs and buckets tonight in preparation for a hopeful run tomorrow.
We got 12 inches of snow here in Sanford. From what its looking like we could be in for a repeat next week. They are discussing the possibility of the same type system set up but possibly stronger. If so I think I will quit my syrup this year and go visit my son in Texas. I can't take winter in spring. LOL YES IT IS SPRING don't you tell me its not. :P

Man, your priorities are messed up.
Seriously, we already had too much snow here to make getting around the woods anything less than difficult. Now it's almost impossible for us old dudes. I can't hardly get my tractor around the woods. I have to keep the bucket down to compress the snow so it doesn't get shoved into the fan pulley. Supposed to get some 40s for the next couple days, but the trees might not be thawed yet.

We got around 15. We might get that much again over two days with this next system. I don't know where I would put it. We've had 24" since this pic of my driveway was taken. The sidewalls are getting up to the mirrors on my truck now.

Thanks. I was on my tractor getting ready to plow the whole 1/4 mile of it when I took that. I had a backblade that could move that much. Nothing but the bucket could move yesterday's.
