GPH on a 2x6 pan

We are running a 2x6 Leader evaporator that my dad and grandpa bought 25 years ago. It was always grandpa's baby but he passed several years ago and it has sat for about 10 years. Decided to tap again this year and trying to learn all those tricks that grandpa did but I was to young to care. Read the post below about firing with the door open and have taken several ideas from that to increase boil. But the big question I have is how many gallons an hour should I be able to push through it? Natural draft with dry ash split small. No preheater but definitely interested in one in the future. Thanks for the replies.

Our 2x6 maple pro raised flu evaporator evaporates a half of a gallon of sap per minute. natural draft no pre heater no ro machine wood fired. also the chimney or stack temp gets up to 900 degrees

Your older Leader should cruise right along at 25-30 GPH

I figure we are in that 25-35 depending if we are trying to finish a batch or just pushing like crazy. Thanks.

I get 25-30 typically. Depends on the wood. I mix hemlock/poplar (junk) with some hardwood - typically beech as I have an absolute ton of it.

Currently the arch is firebricked only. Considering adding insulation between the sheet metal and firebrick as there's an inch or so gap between them. I assume this will keep more of the heat inside the arch.
