I have a home made 1/2 pint evaporator. Have a question about the location of the firewall. How far from the back wall should the fire wall be set. Was also wondering how the firewall improves boiling action in the pan?

On my 1/2 pint I put the wall right where the grate ends. It prevents all the heat from being sucked up the pipe.

On my 2X3 I have my wall about 22 inches in. I am still playing with the space below the pan. I raised it another brick height this season and may go another one to narrow the space over the back of the pan.
