I have someone else boil my sap for 50/50 and this year he is going certified organic. since my bush is separate from his I have to form some sort of contract with him in order for him to be able to boil it with his. He hasn't got a lot of information on what this contract is to contain but it appears were to write it. Anyone run into this and have any thoughts.

Do you have enough sap to make it worth while to certify organic yourself? If so do it there is a premium for the sap/syrup. From a business perspective if I were buying sap and my business were certified organic I would require a written agreement and inspection of the woods prior to purchasing the sap to verify it is collected to organic standards. If you do not want to do that then I recommend keeping the sap separate which could be tough based on storage requirements.

I only have about 400 taps. I have no problems meeting the requirements but having a hard time justifying the $800 dollars that this guy has already forked out just for the labeling. If I allow him to register my bush under his setup I can still be certified, just need a contract between him and I. I am more wondering what this contract should say in its context. Anyone have one already that I could use as a model for mine?

I am certified through nofa NY and they have a tapping agreement form that you just have to fill out. I will take a picture of it when I'm at the bush today

Thanks. I found the nofa tapping agreement online. Doesn't seem that Pa has one but this will help me draft my own I guess.
