If i get one from my local auto parts store, will it work?
Thinking of buying one specifically for syrup, but i wouldn't get it in mail for a few days...

I would go ahead and order TWO from somewhere. I didn't even know auto parts stores sold them maybe that will work in the mean time.

I don't think those work for sugar content. They're made for battery acid. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Just order one(or 2) and use a thermometer for now.

Interesting thought...
BRIX 66 has a SG of 1.33
Here is a BRIX to SG calculator, but you can get a chart I imagine...
You would need a battery hydrometer that goes over 1.3 and the ones I saw go just to that..

get 2 for maple, one to use and one to replace it when you drop it.
