Was debating on sugaring this year or not... never got around to rebuilding the evaporator. But son wants to tap a friends tree's (6 taps).. so decided I'll put mine out too!
So now a scramble to get things in place..

Well if per norm, once I tap it turns cold..
Taped today... with son's taps, up to 20 taps... surprised that as cold as it felt, all taps were dripping!!

1st 2016 boil in the books... pans sweeten.
Could have boiled longer.. but after 5 hrs had had enough.
Need to do a bit repair/improvements to set up, but glad to have been boiling again!

Taking day off today... mainly because wife has Dr appointments at Dart.. Once back, will park my self out in the sugar house. Have 50 +/- Gal of sap to boil down.

Weather forecast for next week looking a bit to warm... over yet?.. Time will tell!

2nd boil of 2016 done... 2.5 Qts finished... still have 40 +/- gal of sap to boil... but had enough after 4 hrs..

I QUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finished up what i could... ended up dumping some sap.... but still ended up with 15 quarts of syrup made..
