I have two section of woods, both have 3/4" main line and 125-150 taps. 3/4 line is 800' or so. I was thinking about the possibilities of a guzzler that ran off a 12v battery, and charging the battery off a solar charger? Just wondering if anyone does that, and how it works? also does anyone have it turn on and off with a thermostat switch?
I have two shurflo pumps running on battery, one with a 40 watt solar charger, and one I will add a solar charger next weekend. The solar charger works great. Just need to make sure your battery is large enough to ride through evenings if it runs all night, also you would want a larger solar panel than mine for Guzzler which probably draws more power. I bought a new deep cycle marine battery to try this year. I have my own controller which shuts down if freezing (thermostat) or battery is low, and has an automatic bypass valve so sap can still flow on gravity if not pumping.
