I followed the paper from UVM and Thunderbolt Research about improving combustion using AOF. I have an AOF/AUF arch with the 1/2 h.p. high pressure blower recommended, and twenty 3/8" black pipe nozzles. Today, I decided to check my air pressure at the nozzle to see what I might be getting. I'm only getting 1 1/2" of water pressure. In order to measure the pressure, I slipped a 5/8" clear tube over the 3/8" black pipe, then created a "U" shape out of the clear tubing and put water in the tubing and let er fly. No air leaks at the tubing that had 18" of water in it total. It pushed the water only 1 1/2". Do I need smaller nozzles, does the amount of water column in the clear hose matter? Has anyone else tested their system? Should I not be concerned? Attached are a couple of photos to visualize my system. Please help!

Nice looking build. Maybe the 3/8 is a little big? I think mine are about 1/4 I.d. I am not the expert on these.

I think mine are 1/4" too. However that is not how the pressure is measured. Do you have a nozzle every 6" around the firebox area?

UVM does say 3/8 inch nozzles every 6". That's what I used on my 2x6, but I have not fired it yet to check the performance. I'm still assembling the manifold and working on the installation.

I do have my 3/8" ID pipe every 6". My arch is 2x8'.

I'll have to check the size of mine. I was remembering 1/4, but on that part I thought I followed the UVM sizes, maybe they are 3/8.
