This Year I switched to a different setup. I'm trying continuous flow using a 2x2 pan with a float box. I've boiled 45 gallons through it already, my question/problem is that I can't get my temperature at my drawl off to go above 213.5. Do I need to keep boiling more sap through before Start seeing drawl offs or am I doing something wrong here?

Been a long time since I used a 2 by 2 but I do remember some years running close to 80 gallons before I got syrup. I depends on how much sugar your sap has and how hot your fire how much time between firing and the dryness of the wood. Also how deep you are running. If I remember correctly 1 inch in a 2 by 2 is about a gallon and a half so you have a way to go

thanks for the help! Each channel of the pan boil really good the middle and last boil the hardest. I was worried that my float box wasn't letting sap into the pan fast enough to establish a gradient. I can boil roughly 8-10gph the sap coming into the float box is a steady trickle. I'll just keep boiling until I start getting drawl offs.

I used to run a small divided flat pan and sometimes I had to block the hole to the syrup section and watch it close. Once I got it to syrup I could take almost a continuous draw at a trickle out of the draw off. Most of the time I just waited until it was syrup then pulled the plug and drew off my syrup. I would draw down to 217 and stop. After that a gradient held fairly well.

Might be better to make batch syrup with a 2 x 2.
