Tapping and boiling in Weston CT

First boil was around Feb 1 after getting ~18 gallons of sap off 13 taps ... 6 in Weston and 7 in Hopewell Junction NY ... all on drip lines to ground bucket.
Second boil on Feb 5 with another ~18 gallons
Third boil around Feb 10 with another ~20 gallons

Cold shut down the flow last weekend ... Feb 13 and 14

Flow seems to be picking up again ... 15 gallons under the snow now ... Friday evening Feb 19

Roughly 5 quarts of syrup made so far.

Big boil next week I suspect after what should be a big weekend flow.

Sugar Bear: What type of setup you boiling on? I'm over in Redding. Collected about 30 gallons off ~15 buckets from the last week. Although some of my reds are not producing anything.

GUSHING in Norwalk and Ansonia over the weekend. 30 Gallons from 9 sap sacks in Norwalk. 6 of them literally overflowing. I'm glad I limited myself to 14 this season. Too much work for this one ol' man operation!

Flow seems to have stopped here in New Canaaan. Wondering if anyone else in SW CT is flowing? Also, will forecasted overnight freezing temps starting tonight through Sunday be enough to recharge the trees for another run?

There should be a few more good runs coming from this cold snap - Weather . com however is showing no frost from March 7 through the 15th, with some daytimes near 70. Rainy from the 10th to the 14th - The end is near.

The reds pop a least a week before the sugars . I havnt seen any reds popped yet so I think we are good for at least one more good run.

Sadly I saw a bunch of reds in full bloom today along the mill river in Hamden (just north of dixwell Ave). Norways and sugars were still pretty tightly closed, but made me wonder. Thankfully I live much further north
