I am looking for a Refractometer to use for beer making and for syrup. Would this one be a good to pick up. I have never used one and don't know what to look for or stay away from. I found thin one on Amazon any advise would be great.

Looks like what we have. Got one for sap and one for syrup. They are easy to use.

Yours didn't want to open for me...
I use one for sap that I got off ebay for around $10. I use it for the RO. When rinsing the membranes of lodged sugar I can track to the sugar content until it gests to under 1% or less and dump the rest in the drain.
The only suggestion I have is...wait it opened...if it is a single scale then be careful that you can easily not the gradient so you are not guessing. I found my dads syrup unit this past summer in a box in the sugar house. Works better than hydrometer but I think I will keep using the hydrometer for pulling of syrup from the rig. I have to reset the draw temp as the days goes on.
Check out ebay as they can be good prices there too.
For me they are worth every penny in sugar saved and density control when bottling.

I just ordered this same one on amazon. The reviews online were good for it, and there are a few youtube video's out there how to use it. Cheaper then a hydrometer and don't need to use as much product to get an accurate reading. I can't wait to get it!

I had ordered this one last week. It came yesterday. While the desertion and the online picture show it is an ATC model, mine is not marked as such. I'm curious if you received yours if it is marked as such. (I also bought the 0-10 model same brand, thinking the scaling might be easier to read, and it is marked ATC.)
Thanks.

Mine is marked ATC. The one I ordered was the 50-100 range. I also was able to barrow a friends that does the 1-30 range but his is marked ATC also. Works GREAT! I will never make syrup again without it!
