I am tapping on Friday – I cant wait.

Santa Clause brought me a new (used) 4X6 pan from Bascoms for Christmas and I am having a local welder reconfigure my 275 Gallon Oil Tank so I can get flame under every part of the pan.

Will post pictures soon.

Here was the last boil of last season – the stove pipe was showing 850 degree!

Looks like a good weekend and you should have a sweet setup when it is done. Have a good season.

Wowza, that is lots of red coal in that pic. Air is needed I feel, open the door as your burning, at least.
If I can give my thoughts, it needs more air before tossing more wood inside.
Burning green (wet) wood could cause that pic also.
No idea how you burn but it sure seems like you have mucho wood inside the oil tank. If you don't have a grate, get one soon. Raise the fire closer to your pan. I suspect the back of the firebox is wide open and not slimmed down to preserve some heat before going out the stack??

If you post how you fire your arch we can help.

Bottom line is you have a great fire going, just hoping to save some wood and increase your boil rate.

Installing a fan and have better dried my wood.

You are going to save wood, time and boil much better now. YeeHaa!!

Leave room underneath the grate to be able to get the ashes out.
