I tapped my first 10 trees this winter and got the bug. I have a fence line going straight up a hill that I could hit upto 50 maples with...all w decent drop. Im guess a 500 ft roll of tubing would hit most of them and be enough for my first yr. I have no experience but would like to try tapping atleast 30 of them w gravity fed tubing. What sort of setup am I looking at? Ballpark cost for tubing/taps/fittings/etc. 3/16 main line and tap lines down to a water buffalo?
I work at a metal fab shop and have 2 2x3 flat evap pans that will be done tmw. doing a cinderblock fire pit this yr.
thanks!

D&g 3/16 tubing is around $45 for 500' you need 30 3/16 taps 30 3/16 Ts they should both be around .35 a piece. Then you need an end loop/ plug to terminate the line at the top of the run. I also suggest a few 3/16 splices for breaks or mistakes. You should be well under $100

Welcome to the world of Sugaring !
Here would be my estimate:
Roll of 3/16 Tubing 45.00
3/16 Tees for 35 trees 12.00 ( go with 35 , you won't be sorry , until your sleep deprived )
Taps for 35 trees 10.00
25 foot hollow core rope 3.00 ( securing & tensioning tubing ends )
UPS shipping 20.00
_______
Total 90.00
Bascom's is a good place to order from : https://www.bascommaple.com/category/316_tubing_fittings/
Warning : 3/16" tubing may cause lack of sleep and require a larger gathering tank !

One thing to remember is you will have about 100 feet of line used in your drops for 35 taps. If would buy 2 rolls and while you are at it you might as well get a few more taps and Tee's as long as you paying shipping already and you will need them eventually.

Its is a guarantee that while you're out there, you'll find a couple other juicy prime trees to tap...and so on and so forth...
