I got 100' of 8" round galvanized ductwork for $75 and I was wondering if it will last the season if I use some for chimney flue? I used 6" smoke pipe last year on my 2X6 and I was hoping to get a better draft with the 8" size, for not much $$.

Well a 100' stack you'll get a pretty good draft!
Just kidding.
I use it. Made it through 3 seasons.

Thanks, psparr. That's what I was hoping to hear.
Good draft on 100', alright. No need for AUF or AOF! Just kidding.

In case you didn't see the other post this week on using galvanized steel for a stack, just note that when the zinc burns off (it may not all come off in the first burn, either), it is extremely dangerous to inhale.

You can use galvanized pipe. Get the thickest gauge you can find and ventilate during your first good burn.

Thanks, Billyinvt and Jamie. My shack is open on all four sides and the galvanized pipe will be predominantly downwind from the evaporator. I'll be using the setup on this year's sweetening so I can put the BTU's to it and keep my distance while the zinc dissipates somewhat.

Galvanize,,, zinc,,, burns with 'yellow' smoke,,,,,, dang sure don't breathe and of it. If you think you may did breathe some drink extra whole white milk. That was what they made us drink on the job.
