This is what I did for my stack base. It helps spread the heat over the entire width of the pan.https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10897920_836982203021001_7092230588045128731_n.jpg ?oh=91da07e6fa4a023c050d3be80fe71362&oe=5767DAA9

I have 6" on mine and it works but I wish I had gone bigger. The 6" flue doesn't seem to handle the blower well, I have to keep it on low speed. A little more draw would have been nice.

Where are you guys finding plans for these, or are you making it up as you go? I have a half pint clone on a modified barrel that is about to die, and I need to build another arch. About how much money do you have wrapped up in building it?

@ Turtlecreek
Brian Kloepfer put dimensions on his thread when he built his 2 x 6. http://mapletrader.com/community/showthread.php?8805-2x6-homemade-arch
I have probably around $450.00 or alittle more into it,$185.00 steel, firebrick and mortar $185.00, ceramic fiber insulation 75.00 www.zoro.com/search?q=fiber+insulation
doors are from an old wood stove. Still have to get it bricked to darn cold here right now not a heated garage so -5 this morning just a little to cold for
my propane heater to keep up :) And thanks for all the suggestions and comments, will post more pictures when i finish it

I am building a 2 x 5 and will have roughly $600 - $700 in it. Doors were off of an old wood burner. I just studied a lot of peoples designs they have build. Had a rough sketch for material list. Kind of built as I went . I purchased a Smoky Lake 2x5 hybrid that I built my arch to fit
