I have the Milwaukee http://amzn.com/B007Z4IN58

It seem to work fine for me, I mainly use it with sap when running the RO, but I have used it with syrup (I let in cool a bit before putting it on the lense) It seems to be fairly accurate and simple to use.

I think this one and the Hanna ones were the most popular, but there are a few other on the market. The more expensive one are a higher quality and I think you get what you pay for.

Here's one I've used for a couple of years. it works fine for my small operation and it's only $40.http://www.amazon.com/0-10%25-ATC-BRIX-REFRACTOMETER-Coolant/dp/B000K312Q8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1363268626&sr=8-3&keywords=syrup+refractometer

This is the one I use. Works fine, and only costs $24. One bit of caution about it though...it didn't come with calibration fluid, so ended up ordering that separately.
