So i stored membrane in vessel, added glycol preservative etc. noticed a smell over the summer of wrotten eggs kinda like hydrogen or sulfur. any ideas???

Probably just a little anaerobic decomposition.

What was the preservative? I'm guessing sodium bisulfite, which would normally have a sulfur (rotten egg) odor. Just run the normal startup wash and rinse and I bet you'll be fine.
