Go to the local hardware store where they sell wood stove replacement supplies and buy some "fire rope" gasket material and wrap it wround the pans but do not glue it just lightly tuck in the rope so when you remove the pans it falls away.
Found this on Amzon:
http://www.amazon.com/Imperial-Mfg-Gasket-Ga0187-Fireplace/dp/B0015Q4KOU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455030953&sr=8-1&keywords=wood+stove+gasket+kit
FYI I had the same set-up a few years back worked well so I added a damper worked better and then I decide to wrap hi-temp insulation around it and killed it. I liked it because they are quick and simple to make...so scroll back thru the link and you will find the designed on 1-13-2013...enjoy

I use "pan gasket" from Sugarbushsupplies.com. It's 1" thick x 4" wide by varying lengths. Seems to work pretty well to fill in some areas around my pan.
