Is it possible to rework a pan?

I have seen some pans that would work with my basic dimensions, but are not what I am looking for in terms of layout. Is it possible to take a 2' x 6' flat pan and rework it as a hybrid type? My thoughts are to add drop flu's in the back 4' with a divider and separate the front 2' with a divider. I have access to required tools and skill sets. My initial work up on prices puts me at 50% or less of a new pan cost.

Has anyone else undertaken a project like this? Does it seam like a reasonable endeavor?

Search for drop tube pans. It's a simpler route that several members on here have successfully taken that should accomplish what you want.
