Not one to brag but I'm pretty proud of this building.

Been working on this for the past few months. Good weather has helped and it looks like we have it done just in time for maple season. I still have to put down a floor and will build a deck off the front with a fire pit in the spring but aside from that we're good to go. Did all the work myself except the wiring and the roof. Cut all the framing lumber here on the property too.

First fire in the arch on Saturday!

10x20. Front room is 10x16 and the back 4' is wood storage and a rack up high for the head tank.

Not sure yet. I have a bunch of flagstone hanging around the house and that would be the smart move. I also have a couple nice maple logs that I could cut into flooring on the sawmill. For fire-reasons I'll probably go with the flagstone or another type of tile. The floor you see there is 1/4" cement board over 3/4" Advantech.

Awesome shack! Looks great. Congrats.

You said you cut the framing lumber on site? What kind of a mill did you use? That's doesn't look like rough sawn?

I have a Norwood ML26 that I bought three or four years ago. I love it! All the 2x10 floor joists and 2x6 studs and plates as well as a pile of 2x4s for odd stuff came from one white pine I took down last year. I got 70' of log out of that one tree and it was just enough for the lumber for that sugar shack. I don't think I have a single stick of lumber left over! Maybe a couple cut ends but thats about it. The trusses are raised-tie and were ordered. I'm not smart enough to make my own rafters.

I use 7/8 pitch Timberwolf bands on this saw for softwood. They cut really well and last a good long time. I think I used one and a half bands on all this lumber. It does help that I pressure wash all the logs when they're on the deck.

That's great! That must have been rewarding to use your own pine. The mill did a nice job! Again, great shack!

Fired the arch for the first time tonight just with water in it. Wanted to burn off all the paint and oils and such. Was boiling within a few minutes! Will boil sap for the first time tomorrow night!
