Just wondering what others do to repair squirrel damage to 5/16 lines? I was planning to cut and replace the damaged sections but then I thought about taping them.....is there a specific tape one would use? with low vacuum??
Thanks

Electrical tape is a good temporary fix use a bright color so you can find it if you decide to replace it.

Nice skidoo Rob...duct tape at the $ store is cheaper and works as well as elec tape.

I have allot of experience with this! During the season I never leave the sugar house without a good quality cold weather electrical tape roll in my pocket. Works fine. Then before the startup of the next season I go back around and replace all the tape areas using new tubing or just installing connectors. When I get too many connectors in the line, the entire line gets replaced.

Step 1, shoot the squirrel.
Step 2, shoot 10 more.
Step 3, repeat steps 1 & 2.
As most of my chew throughs were short, I just opted to replace the line. I received a roll of emergency tape or repair tape for pipes. I used it on one long line with a small hole. So far it's held up great.

I don't use tape on 5/16" lines. I cut out the bad spot and install a straight fitting if it is small or replace a section of tubing depending on the amount of damage. I have used electrical tape on mainlines with good results. Wrap the mainline with tape and then put a clamp over that. I have one mainline with a repair that has been there since day one and that was 8 or 9 seasons ago.

Thanks all.
Breezyhill, she goes like stink but speed and a short, narrow track don't pull sap sleds in deep snow very well.... I have scars from digging her out of the snow. :)

I had a lot of chew damage this year way more than ever before. I Have replaced some of my 5/16 in the last year with green rather than blue so I could tell what had been replaced. Well I was wondering if the green tastes better? Something not a squirrel but a much larger critter has destroyed the green lines. One lateral that was about 30 feet long was chew into 3 inch chunks. I thought it might just be the location but on the opposite side of the bush the same thing. All in all I ended up replacing 100 feet of green and just had to patch up the blue in a few spots. Strange but I'm guessing deer ate it as they were wide bite marks.

Never going to see any close range when you go for a walk. Need some chum! Corn or bird seed. After a week they'll be coming to you! Don't think so? Check out the 30 or so under our bird feeders! Hunting time.

Probably deer damage. I've had a lot of that last 2 or 3 years. Had drop close to 6' off ground they chewed up. Never used to bother it just squirrels. Now squirrels hardly bother it but deer are bad.

Yes Brandon deer was my guess to but have you ever seen them walk past a mile of blue line to eat green? Maybe because it was newer it had a different smell or taste. Three different spots in the bush with green and now its all gone but few laterals.
